PanPastel Believe in Fairies Card

Good afternoon. After the last mammoth post I thought I'd blog this card next as it's nice and simple to explain.

It's done with PanPastels on white linen card from papermilldirect.

I did the stamping first, then masked off the text boxes and the toadstool before applying various shades of PanPastel.

I used Versamark ink (please excuse the state of this but I couldn't find my clean one) to stamp the stars and flowers then I applied PanPastel over the top.

Some Stickles glitter glue makes the fairy wings sparkly.

The stars on the base card were cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

My personalised stamp on the back, which I coloured to match the front, finishes it all off.

Silent Night

Morning everyone. Today I'm going to share with you the one my Hubby calls my "Feet card".

Can you see why? He is cheeky!

It uses a much neglected item in my stash - PanPastels.

As I only have a few, I had to mix some Black in with Phthalo Blue to get a night sky colour. 

One of the great things about PanPastels is that you can rub them out, so I used my whizzy rubber to remove the colour from the book, candle and horns. I then added a little touch of yellow Sakura Stardust pen to the candle flame.

The stars are from this stamp. I just masked off the bottom part when I inked it up with Versamark ink. I went over that with Neutral Grey PanPastel to give them some colour.

I thought it would be different to add my personalised Clarity Christmas stamp to the front of this card. It shows that you don't have to just keep them for the inserts and it's nice that it can be seen when the card is on display.

Fifties PanPastel Card

My samples for November's shows are slowly coming on. Yesterday was both a hit and a miss. The hit was a card made with the stencil brushes (they give such a lovely effect), the miss was the fibres and film! I don't know what I do wrong but they never look anything like Maria's!

Today the Gelli Plate is coming out and and I know exactly what I want to do with it. Hopefully it will work!

This is another really simple card made with one of the new pattern stamps - Fifties. They are such great designs that you don't really need to do a lot with them to make an eye-catching card.

I stamped the image horizontally in Versamark ink and then blended over it with red, yellow and orange PanPastels. 

When I was happy with the colour I stamped the image again, but this time vertically, in black Archival ink.

The 'Thank You" stamp and a thin black mat on each side finish it off.

Harlequin Poppy PanPastel Card

I'm just off to the Post Office to post my Clarity samples for next weekend's shows. I can't wait to share what I've made and see what everyone else has done with the fab new stamps.

This is a card I made for a friend's birthday. The main poppy/harlequin stamp is from the Butterfly Poppy Collage stamp sheet by Chocolate Baroque. I've had it for years but I think it's the first time that I've used that particular stamp.

I used a selection of red, yellow, and orange PanPastels to colour the background then I stamped some text and the harlequin part of the stamp in Watermark Resist ink by Ranger. I dusted that with orange and red PanPastels to reveal the image.  The rest of the stamping is done with black Archival.

For last month's Clarity Stamp Challenge Hellen made a beautiful card where she used PanPastels for the background and then erased the colour from the stamped image so that she could colour it in with ProMarkers. I bought one of the Jakar battery erasers from Amazon and had a go at that on the poppies. It's really easy to do and I was able to get a nice green colour to the poppies without having to worry about masking them.

Kate Crane PanPastel Class

On Thursday I had a great day at a PanPastel class. It was taught by the very talented Kate Crane at Art  From the Heart in Harrogate.

This is the little tag book I made.

These are the individual tags before they were made into a book. They are a great way to try lots of different techniques. We did blending and sponging, stencils with a watermark resist, stamping with pastels, building layers with moulding paste, and patterns e.g. plaid.

Most of the other ladies in the class were art journalers and used to this style of stamping. Their work was fantastic....then there was me! It's very different to what I normally do but I really enjoyed the challenge. My tags aren't as "arty" as the others but I was pleased with what I ended up with. At one point it was looking decidedly dodgy, but I think it all came good in the end.

There was a huge collection of stamps by Stampers Anonymous and Tim Holtz to choose from and I was totally spoilt for choice. You can probably see that by the random nature of what I picked. I can't resist snowmen so I had to use that, then I saw the soldier, and I love Geocaching so the compass got chosen. I'm not quite sure why I picked the Halloween ones, I guess it was because I was using orange, but they are fab!

My moulding paste tag went a bit wrong so I cut that one up and rescued the parts I could. I decided to keep the paste part in as it will remind me what not to do - my paste was too thick and I was heavy handed with the PanPastels. My placement was a bit dodgy too, before I cut it up the poor woman looked like she had a giant booger coming out of her nose!!!!!!

Once we'd finished the fronts we stuck pages of an old book to the back of the tags. It was fun trying to find interesting bits to use!

I arranged the tags so that the different colours and sizes could be seen. Everything started to come together then.

I was sat next to a really talented crafter, Michelle Webb, and she was a great help to me. One of her tips was to use a black Adirondack Paint Dabber to edge the tags with. The front and back covers are stuck to mount board and this gives them a great finish. 

My favourite tag was the snowman one, so I made that into the front cover. That stamp is now on my Wish List.

I'll have to have another go and use my Clarity stamps. I think it would look good and I have a bit more of an idea what to do now.

PanPastel Anniversary Card

This is the last of my cards from September's Claritystamps shows on Create and Craft. It is using the Letter Box kit that is going to be used on Lesson 12 of In the Classroom with Barbara Gray on the 13th October.

I was very excited when this kit arrived and couldn't wait to get creating with it. As it looked like Scrabble tiles I thought I'd have a go at a Scrabble style card. I got out a pen and paper to try and come up with a nice board.  After a couple of attempts I'd realised that Happy Anniversary worked well, then it was just a case of adding in a couple more words. Darling and Husband fitted and that led to the male, sporty theme. It's a good job it's not for my Husband, he can be a darling but he's not really into sport!

For the background I used just two colours of PanPastels, Phthalo Blue, and Diarylide Yellow.  The stamps are all by Clarity and are inked with Versamark.  I just kept adding stamps and layers of PanPastels until I got a look I was happy with.

The letter tiles are all mounted on foam pads to give it a bit of dimension.

I'm looking forward to the lesson and seeing what the rest of the Design Team have created. I've also made a couple more items that I will be blogging after the show. They are great stamps to work with.

PanPastel Christmas Card

Well, I'm getting through my cards from September's Create and Craft shows.  After this one there are only two more to show you.  Just as well that I now have next month's to work on.  As Barbara has already mentioned it on TV, I think I'm safe to say that they include the next three 'Twas the Night stamps.  I have a few ideas floating around in my head for them - I just need to get stamping.

Anyway, back to this month's.

I loved the effect that I created on my first PanPastel card and thought it would make a beautiful background for the Noel stamp.

I started off by making a mask of the O and placing it on some white card.  I stamped all the little miniatures in Versamark ink, then I sponged over them with Permanent Red, Phthalo Blue, and Diarylide Yellow PanPastels.  I then removed the mask and carefully stamped the Noel making sure it lined up with the white area.  The star was originally stamped in black but it looked a bit boring, so I went over it with some sparkly embossing powder.

I haven't started them yet, but I think this could be one of my Christmas card designs for this year.  I love the bright colours.

My First PanPastel Card

Well I held out for a long time but I finally gave in and bought some PanPastels. I've seen so many gorgeous things created with them by my crafty friends that I had to have a go.

I followed a tutorial by the super talented Eileen Godwin.  Although it looks like a simple technique, it's a bit tricky to get the blending right.  I wasn't totally happy with my first attempt and it eventually ended up in the bin.  This is version 2.

I've a long way to go to get to Eileen's standard but I love the vibrant colours I ended up with.  I used the same colours as Eileen, Permanent Red, Phthalo Blue, and Diarylide Yellow.  By blending them together you also get lovely shades of orange, green, and purple.

I've finished it off with two sizes of Swirl stamps from Clarity and a greeting from Chocolate Baroque.  It's very different to the cards I normally make but I really like the simplicity of it.  I think you will be seeing more of these from me.
