Baby's 1st Christmas Bauble

This was another of my ideas for the number stamps from Lesson 13. It also uses the letters from the previous lesson.

The bauble was cut on my Cameo from Centura Pearl Card. I inked it with Dusty Concord Distress Ink on my Splodgemat.  The bauble top was cut in gold Mirri card (that hasn't photographed very well).

The baby in the crib is part of one of the 'Twas the Night stamps. I first saw this done by another member of the Design Team, Janet Pring (thanks Janet). It's great to be able to get more use out of a Christmas stamp. It's stamped on a Nestabilities and mounted onto foam pads to give it a more 3D effect.

The reverse is done the same so it doesn't matter if it turns around.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas Clarity Stamps - Rooftop

Here it is, the last one of my 'Twas the Night Before Christmas cards, Rooftop.  I decided to extend the stamp so that it looked like the roof continued off the Nestabilities.

A simple stepper card was perfect for this idea.  These are easily made on a Hougie board.  

I created a snowy woodland scene for the background.  I stamped the trees, then brayered the sky in Denim Adirondack.  The sky was spritzed with water to give a snowy effect, before I added the snowflakes.  They are also by Clarity. The snowflakes and the snowy parts are stamped in Versmark, then heat embossed with White Twinkle Wow! powder.  The moon is coloured in with a Versamark pen, then heat embossed with Stardust powder by Stampendous.  They look quite similar in the photo but in real life you can see the difference.

Both me and my craft room were a right glittery mess by the time I'd finished!

'Twas the Night Before Christmas Clarity Stamps - Rooftop

Well we're getting near to the end of my 'Twas the Night cards. This one is the ninth in a series of ten stamps by Barbara Gray. Hopefully Barbara will get drawing and we'll get some more next year.

As Santa is coming down the chimney I thought it might be fun to be peeping in the window at him.  It also gave me an excuse to buy the new Spellbinders Bricks and Bark M-Bossibilities folder that I'd been lusting after!  

I stamped the mice before I embossed the card, so that I got a nice, crisp image. Then I inked it with some Walnut Distress Ink to enhance the brick effect.

The window was cut on my Cameo.  As it's a simple shape I was able to draw it myself.  A scalloped strip made the pelmet and I cut the curtains freehand. There is a sheet of acetate in the window so that it looks like it's glazed.

The fluff on Santa's boots is Flowersoft. 

It's a good job the cat is better behaved than Maya. She would be jumping all over him if he came down our chimney!

'Twas the Night Before Christmas Clarity Stamps - Santa's Sleigh

This card may look very simple but it gave me a lot of trouble!  It's very rare that I will complete a card in one go.  I tend to do a bit, then leave it overnight until I've made up my mind that it's how I want it. This one evolved over about a week!  I knew what I wanted to do but I just couldn't get it to look right.

The original version was red and green as I thought they're nice Christmassy colours.  That was far too busy though so I got out all my blue Distress Ink pads.  I used a sheet of A4 Clarity paper and brushed the various blues on with an ink duster.  I then sprayed some cling film with water and scrunched it on to the paper leaving it there to dry.  This blends the ink together and leaves a lovely effect.  I finished it off by stamping some Clarity snowflakes in Weathered Wood.

To get all of the 'Twas the Night stamps on I had to go large!  The card is 9"x 9".

The panel with the sleigh on is on foam pads to make it stand out and the sleigh itself is decoupaged.

It took a while but I got there in the end.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas Clarity Stamps - Window

This is the first round card that I've made and I really like the look of it.  I cut the folded base card with my Grand Nestabilities and then layered another on top so you get a completely round card.  I made sure that I got the scallops positioned correctly so it stands up without wobbling.

I've recently learnt how to scan my Nestabilities into my Cameo and cut out a slightly larger mat.  I did this for the black layers on the scallop and banner.  It's so much easier than drawing around them and cutting them out by hand.

I used one of my favourite techniques of stamping a circular border.  The poem mentions "Eight tiny reindeer" so I originally tried it with a reindeer stamped eight times.  It was a bit large and overpowered the main image though.  The little Santa in his sleigh stamp looked much nicer.   Unfortunately that means that there are 16 reindeer, but the thought was there!  :-)

'Twas the Night Before Christmas Clarity Stamp - Father Christmas

Hubby thought this one was too busy, but as the main image isn't I thought it could handle more of a patterned background.  It was quite simple, just two Clarity stamps and a matching red scalloped mat cut on my Cameo.

I used the Holly Corner stamp to make a frame for Santa and a matching background design.  The berries and hat were coloured with a Sakura Glaze pen.  I added some pale grey to Santa's beard with a ProMarker, before I added the glitter.  I then finished it off with some Glossy Accents on Santa's glasses.

You certainly couldn't miss it on TV!  LOL

'Twas the Night Before Christmas Clarity Stamps - Bauble

This is another in the range of 'Twas the Night stamps.  I think it's probably one of my favourites.  The bauble is lovely to colour and perfect for using with Angelina Fibres and Film.  That is what I've used here.  I've also used the Universal Framer that is part of the set.  It fits the verses perfectly but can also be used with other stamps, not just Christmas ones.

I used the White Gold Fibres and Pearl Gold Film.  To give it a bit more interest I coloured the sky on the stamped image in my darkest blue ProMarker, Indigo.  You can see in the top photo that it makes the sky a darker colour when you put the film and fibre sandwich on top of it..  It also makes the moon stand out more.  It's quite subtle but I like the effect.

I used Barbara Gray's technique of pushing the iron into the stamp to make the roof puff out.  It looks like it's laden down with snow.

The corner stamp is from Clarity and the 'Twas the Night words are from the first stamp in the series, the mouse in a shoe.

The gold scalloped mat is cut on my Silhouette Cameo.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas Clarity Stamps - Reindeer

This is one of the cards that was on the recent Create and Craft show.  The stars are all Mirri card and it was a lot easier to see on TV.  Mirri card is a nightmare to photograph!  

I managed to avoid the reflections by photographing it from above in the end.  

I started off by stamping the image onto some white card and coloured it with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink.  I filled in the frame with a slightly darker ProMarker to make it stand out a bit more.  I used my Fiskars Finger Tip craft knife to cut out the stars.  It's great for fiddly little jobs like that.

The frame was made with my Silhouette Cameo.  I am finally getting the hang of the software!  I worked out the size I wanted it to be and then filled it in with lots of different sized stars.  It was cut on some matching Bazzill card.

Both pieces of card were then mounted onto Mirri card to make the stars shine. That brings me to another couple of gadgets I used on this card - my Layer Perfect and Perfect Layers rulers.  The Perfect Layers are sold by Joanna Sheen and I used them to cut the Mirri card mats.  They are so simple to use and give a nice even border.  

I bought the Layer Perfect tool from Clarity Stamp and I used it to position the matted reindeer image onto the starry frame. You can also cut with the Layer Perfect but as I have both I tend to keep it for positioning and use the Perfect Layers for cutting.  

As I've said before, I do love my gadgets!

'Twas the Night Before Christmas Clarity Stamps

I love this set of stamps and was very pleased to be able to make some samples with them.

This card is very simple but it's one of my favourites from this month.  It's a theatre card and I got the idea from my Everyone Needs a Hougie 2 book.  I love my Hougie board.  I used the wood effect card as I wanted it to look like a mouse hole in a skirting board.

It's just two pieces of card with a couple of score lines at each edge.  You can cut whatever shape aperture you want in the front.  Simples!

This one is my Mum's favourite.  Again it's very simple but the Angelina Fibres and Film really enhance it.

I used black Archival ink to stamp the image onto the film for the shoe.  The background is just two pieces of film with some fibres in-between.  I heated them with an iron to fuse them together, then I cut it out with a Nestabilities die.

I am lucky enough to have the whole set of these stamps and these are a couple of cards that I have  previously made with them.

I love making these folded books and had to make one with these stamps.  This one was made for my Mum and Dad.  It was before I got into Spellbinders and ProMarkers!

This one was post ProMarkers and Nestabilities, although I've still used my Sakura Stardust pens on parts of them.  I do love a bit of sparkle, especially on Christmas cards.  My Hubby was the recipient of this one, so I get to enjoy it too.  It comes out again every year.

There are three more stamps in the collection since I made the last two books.  I really need to make something new with the whole set.  This time I will try and do something that I can add to when new stamps come out, like the gorgeous wall hanging that Dee Paramour made.  The K&Co papers that I used were perfect at the time but I don't have enough left to add to it.  A wall hanging will also be easier to display.  I don't suppose it will get made in time for this Christmas though.  I haven't even started my Christmas cards!

I wonder if Barbara has created any new stamps in the collection for this year?  I do hope so.
