The Wee Folk Fairies and Elves!

As the two sets go so well together I thought it would be fun to make a gatefold card.........

..............with the fairies and elves on the front.............

..............and their house inside.

I stamped my Personalised stamp on the back and coloured it in to match the front of the card......

............and I made an envelope to match it all on my Hougie Board.

I do like a bit of co-ordination!

Kingfisher Theatre Card

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. Mine has been a really lazy one so far but that's all about to change as my next lot of Clarity stamps arrived yesterday. I have done the thinking stage and I must now put my ideas into action - I hope they work!

I always enjoy making theatre cards and I though the Kingfisher stamp and Branch stencil would be perfect for it.

They are really easy to make - you just decide what size you want the front (mine is a 17cm square) and add 8cm to one side (so mine are 17cm x 25cm). Score each side at 2cm and 4cm then stick them together with wet glue when you've decorated them (I didn't take photos of this stage so I've just reproduced it with the stencil and white card for the photo).

I cut a replica of the stencil out in brown card using my Silhouette Cameo. Then I cut out an aperture in the card so that you can see through it. I added a little fish in the Kingfisher's mouth and they were coloured in with ProMarkers then stuck behind the branch. To make it more stable I backed the aperture with acetate.

I really liked the background that I'd created on my Kingfisher Gelli Print Card so I did a very similar version on this card. This time I did it with inks, a brayer and Ink Dusters though.

If I'd had the new Reed stamps they would have been perfect for the foreground but unfortunately they didn't arrive until I'd finished the Kingfisher cards. The Bullrushes were a great stand in though.

I do love the dimension that you get with these cards.

In the Garden - Bunnies' Burrow Card

I can't believe it's already time for the second challenge of the Clarity Stamp Challenge Blog. It was lovely to see so many fantastic entires for the first one. If we get that many every month it will build up into a great inspirational gallery of Clarity card designs.

This month's theme is "In the Garden" and I just couldn't resist using the gorgeous bunny stamps.

The idea of this card is that you're looking out into the house owner's garden from the bunnies' burrow. They've been a bit cheeky and gone out to explore. I hope there aren't any carrots in the veg patch!

It's a theatre card that I made with my Hougie Board. I did a similar card last year with the 'Twas the Night stamps. That one was looking through a mouse hole. They are really easy to make - you just decide what size you want the front (mine is a 15cm square) and add 8cm to one side (so mine are 15cm x 23cm). Score each side at 2cm and 4cm then stick them together. I use wet glue for this.

The burrow idea came to me quite quickly but then I had to figure out how to create it - I didn't have any suitable papers and my painting skills aren't up to it. Eventually I had the idea of taking a photograph. I found a great spot at the side of the road when I was walking Maya; I love how the roots are sprouting through.

I printed this out onto card and drew a circle on the front where I wanted the burrow entrance to be. I ripped the circle out using the line as a guide to give the burrow a natural look then inked the edge.

I added the Home Sweet Home sign and the bunny slippers (cut on my Cameo from a design bought in the Silhouette Store) to make it look like you're inside the burrow. Although Hubby's just pointed out that each bunny should have 4 slippers (smart-arse!).  Mind you, I wonder if bunnies would wear cute human slippers?

I used my brayer and Ink Dusters to create the scene and coloured the images in with my ProMarkers. The shingle path was created with the texture stamps from Lesson 15.

Monochrome Clarity Winterland Card

Decisions, decisions!  Which card should I blog first?  In the end I thought I'd just do them in the order they appear in the group shot.  Simples!

I got the idea for this one from the shape of the Winterland stamp and I sized the card to fit it. The stamp is just over 10.5cm wide but I rounded each panel down to 10.5cm, so that it was easy to score on my Hougie Board. Once I'd done that I cut the slope so that it would finish just above the Nestabilities shape at the bottom. Then it was just a case of adding some details.  

The sheep are from the Remountable Farm set and the geese are from the Remountable Village set.  

I created the snowdrifts with a Post-it note cut to shape and an Ink Duster. I decoupaged a couple of the sheep to give the card a bit more dimension, then finished it all off with some sparkly Glamour dust.

On the show there was a gorgeous card shown by Annie Mehew. She had done a beautiful winter scene with the same Winterland stamp and the little labrador that I have on my Handmade by Lynne Hammond stamp (it is available as a separate stamp in the Remountable Home set). Anyway, I wish I'd thought of doing it. It looked so cute! I think it will be making an appearance on some of my Christmas cards. Thanks for the idea Annie.

Halloween Tag Book Instructions

I had a question yesterday about how I'd made the Halloween tag book so here is how I folded it.

1.  Start with a square of double side paper.  I think I trimmed mine down to 10" x 10".

   The red pen lines are just there so you can see where to fold.  Do not draw them on yours.

2. Decide which pattern you want on the outside and fold in half.  A Hougie board is handy for this if you have one, but as it's only paper you're folding it's not necessary.  Turn the paper 90° and fold again.

3. Fold in the corners.

4. Fold the pointy bit up.  "Pointy bit" being a technical term.  :-)

5.  Repeat this for however many pages you want.  Punch some holes along the folded edge and you can now assemble it into a book using book rings, ribbon, or a binding machine and fill it with your tags.

I hope that makes sense.  If it doesn't just let me know.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas Clarity Stamps - Rooftop

Here it is, the last one of my 'Twas the Night Before Christmas cards, Rooftop.  I decided to extend the stamp so that it looked like the roof continued off the Nestabilities.

A simple stepper card was perfect for this idea.  These are easily made on a Hougie board.  

I created a snowy woodland scene for the background.  I stamped the trees, then brayered the sky in Denim Adirondack.  The sky was spritzed with water to give a snowy effect, before I added the snowflakes.  They are also by Clarity. The snowflakes and the snowy parts are stamped in Versmark, then heat embossed with White Twinkle Wow! powder.  The moon is coloured in with a Versamark pen, then heat embossed with Stardust powder by Stampendous.  They look quite similar in the photo but in real life you can see the difference.

Both me and my craft room were a right glittery mess by the time I'd finished!

'Twas the Night Before Christmas Clarity Stamps

I love this set of stamps and was very pleased to be able to make some samples with them.

This card is very simple but it's one of my favourites from this month.  It's a theatre card and I got the idea from my Everyone Needs a Hougie 2 book.  I love my Hougie board.  I used the wood effect card as I wanted it to look like a mouse hole in a skirting board.

It's just two pieces of card with a couple of score lines at each edge.  You can cut whatever shape aperture you want in the front.  Simples!

This one is my Mum's favourite.  Again it's very simple but the Angelina Fibres and Film really enhance it.

I used black Archival ink to stamp the image onto the film for the shoe.  The background is just two pieces of film with some fibres in-between.  I heated them with an iron to fuse them together, then I cut it out with a Nestabilities die.

I am lucky enough to have the whole set of these stamps and these are a couple of cards that I have  previously made with them.

I love making these folded books and had to make one with these stamps.  This one was made for my Mum and Dad.  It was before I got into Spellbinders and ProMarkers!

This one was post ProMarkers and Nestabilities, although I've still used my Sakura Stardust pens on parts of them.  I do love a bit of sparkle, especially on Christmas cards.  My Hubby was the recipient of this one, so I get to enjoy it too.  It comes out again every year.

There are three more stamps in the collection since I made the last two books.  I really need to make something new with the whole set.  This time I will try and do something that I can add to when new stamps come out, like the gorgeous wall hanging that Dee Paramour made.  The K&Co papers that I used were perfect at the time but I don't have enough left to add to it.  A wall hanging will also be easier to display.  I don't suppose it will get made in time for this Christmas though.  I haven't even started my Christmas cards!

I wonder if Barbara has created any new stamps in the collection for this year?  I do hope so.
