Back to my Clarity Christmas samples.

I do love a bit of sparkle!

To make the dove part I stamped with Versamark onto heat resistant acetate and heat embossed it with black detail powder. I stuck this on to a Clarity double sided adhesive sheet and then set to work on the reverse. First I cut away the part of the backing sheet where their beaks are and added gold gilding flakes. Then I peeled away the rest of the backing sheet and covered it in Crystal Glamour Dust.

The olive branch wreath is really simple. It's just Forest Green Sparkle Medium spread through the stencil. 

The "Peace and Goodwill Always" banner and some bright green brads finish it off.

Floral Mother's Day Card

The Freesia stamp from Clarity is a lovely, elegant design. When the design team were discussing it so many of us said that they're our Mum's favourite flowers. I guess that makes them perfect for a Mother's Day card.

Like the diver on my Flower Power card, I thought these stamps would work well with some pretty papers. Again they're by K & Co. but these have a lovely vintage look to them. 

I stamped the image using Espresso Adirondack onto watercolour paper as it has a lovely texture. I then cut that out using one of the Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight dies. The flowers were coloured in with ProMarkers using colours that matched the papers.

I added some Distress Ink around the edges and finished it off with some lovely vintage looking lace.

Gelli Print Anniversary Card

This is the final sample from the last German shows.

The base of it is a Gelli print done with black acrylic paint. You can get a very different effect with the same stencil depending on how much paint you take off with the first print.

This card, that I blogged previously (here), uses the same stencil and black paint for the base print but by removing more ink with the first print, it looks very different.

For today's card I stamped the Alliums onto some copy paper and cut a heart shape out around them. I used this as a mask when I took the Gelli print to leave myself a nice white area to stamp into. I then used the bit I'd cut the heart out of to mask off the Gelli print when I applied the red Distress Ink to the heart.

Like the other card, I used the Dotty Wave stencil to add some dots, this time in red.

The names are stamped separately, cut out and stuck on. I'm not sure who Brigitte is but first time we lived in Germany we had some great nights out with a policeman called Wolfgang whose English improved greatly when he was drunk! Not that we ever were of course!!!

P.S. One more sleep until Harrogate!

Winter Wonderland Aperture Card

I'm starting to get excited - only 3 more sleeps until I'm off to the GNPE in Harrogate.  It always a fun show and it's lovely to catch up with crafty friends.

This is the card that inspired the one in my previous post. It's one of my German samples.

The stamped image is on the inside of the card and can been seen through the aperture on the front.

I started off by stamping the deer scene on the front of the card with Cobalt Blue Archival Ink. I then cut it out with my fab little Fiskars Fingertip craft knife.

I matted that onto some blue card and followed the outline with my knife to give an even-ish border.  It's not stuck on to the background then, I just forgot to photograph that stage.

The base of the card is covered in snowflakes. I used Cobalt Blue Archival Ink and Weathered Wood Distress Ink for this. I also went around the edges with the Weathered Wood.

Once I'd finished the base card I stuck the main image on so that it lines up perfectly with the aperture.

A spotty bow finishes it off.

Garden Grid Card

There's not long to wait now until Barbara is back on TV and I will be able to share my new samples. Until then I have one final card from the German shows.

It's a grid card that I made with the garden stamps and German words. Each section is masked off and inked to create the grid. As I hadn't used many stamps around the edge like your normally would, I added a wiggly black line as well.

The colours I used were Peeled Paint and Shabby Shutters Distress Ink. They look quite different but looking at it now I don't really think the contrast is great enough. Peeled Paint and Bundled Sage might have been better. 

I had to have a go at Sazzle's stacking pots. It had me swearing a bit as there's lots of masking involved and it's not that easy. I think next time my pots will be quite happy on their own!

In case you don't speak German, the phrases are "A flower greeting", "In the garden is always beauty and work", and "Weeds for sale - Pick your own". I paired each one with an appropriate image.

A piece of co-ordinating K & Co. paper adds a bit of pattern to the background and finishes it off.

Jazz Man In the Spotlight

It's not something I know a lot about but I do like a bit of jazz. We were lucky enough to live in Brecon for a couple of years and they have a fab jazz festival there every year.  It was great fun.

About 3 years ago the New Design Club stamp (No. 44) was a ballerina and one of the projects that Barbara did for it was a brayered spotlight. I've been wanting to have a go at it since I got it, but as I've not had anyone to send a ballerina card to I never got around to it. As soon as I saw the Jazz Man I knew that he would be perfect for it and couldn't wait to have a go. 

When Barbara did hers she used a Big and Juicy ink pad in Mountain Meadow. I thought I'd have a go at doing it in black. It took quite a bit of brayering to build up the colour but I was really pleased with how it turned out. It only took one go too!

I used one of my Spellbinders Petite Ovals dies to cut out a mask for the white part of the spotlight and built up the black and grey around it using Adirondack Pitch Black on Claritycard. My Splodge Mat is a great help for things like this.

The sentiment is stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed with silver detail powder.

Once I'd finished that I made a matching background by covering a sheet of Clarity paper with the Jazz Montage stamp.

Clarity Christmas Baubles Cards

Well it's my favourite weekend of the month again, time for another In the Classroom with Barbara Gray show.  I made 14 cards for the shows this weekend and here are the first two.

The new stamps this month were the Baubles kit.

I used the little fir branch to make a wreath.  I drew a circle on the card in pencil and then built up the wreath off it.  I went around the inside once, then overlapped them a bit on the outside to make it look more bushy.  I added the glittery stamped baubles to finish it off.

I was a little kid in the 1970s and I remember the brightly coloured Christmas tree ornaments we had.  None of the sophisticated colour co-ordination we have today!  That's what inspired this card.

I used the large Joy stamp from Lesson 4 and added the stars to it.  I also added a few extra stars to the side panels.  It's a bit on the bright side but that's the '70s for you!
