Gelli Print Alliums Card

I've been playing with my Gelli plate again, it's such fun. I love it for framing a stamped image.

I built the print up layer by layer, using different colours and masks. I wanted the frame to be quite dark so I kept going until I got the effect I wanted. I then added some black Distress Ink around the edge and a fine black wiggly line around the inside.

The Alliums are stamped in black Archival and the quote and bird are heat embossed in gold. There is some gold paint used in the print so I thought that would bring it all together.

That's it really.  Simples!

I'm off out shopping with a friend today but tomorrow is going to be Gelli Day. I would like to make 3 more samples using it, so I'm going to try and get creative (messy!) and see what happens. Experimenting is what it's all about after all.

Happy New Year Gelli Print Card

This was the first of the Gelli print cards that I made for this month's samples. I saw the Happy New Year stamp and the silhouette characters and thought they could be having a New Year's Eve party.

The Gelli print was a really simple one. I brayered orange, red, and yellow acrylic paint onto the mat and then stamped the Allium stamp into it to make a pattern. I cut a small rectangle of card and pressed it onto the Gelli plate to remove some of the paint before taking the main print. This leaves a more subtle print behind in the centre, which I've edged with a black pen and stamped the characters in with Archival black ink.

I also used Archival black to stamp the greeting and some more Alliums. They make fab fireworks and the characters seem to be having a great time - I think Douglas had better watch out as Laurel looks like she's about to give him a New Year's kiss!

I added some Black Soot Distress Ink around the edges and a thin black mat to finish it off.

Clarity Alliums with Highlighter Pens

I had a fab day out today. I've been to a PanPastel workshop taught by Kate Crane at Art from the Heart. It was a lot of fun, although I was totally out of my comfort zone. Most of the ladies were art journallers and my style couldn't be more different! I'm really pleased with what I created though and I'll be blogging it when I've added a few finishing touches.

I got the idea for today's card from an article by Paula Whittaker in August 2012's Craft Stamper magazine.

The secret ingredient is highlighter pens!

You colour in pieces of card with the pens (for this card I used orange, yellow, and pink) and then go over it with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I kept the colouring quite random as I liked the effect it gave, almost like woodgrain. This was a happy accident after some dodgy colouring!

I then stamped on my much loved Clarity Alliums in Archival Black and finished it off with a little bow and "Happy Birthday".

Thank You Card

This is a very simple card but I was really pleased with how it turned out.  It's one of the samples I made for the Clarity shows on German TV (HSE 24).

The base card is a Jennifer Wambach design bought from the Silhouette Store and cut on my Cameo.  I sized it so that the Allium heads fit the top panels.

Then I stamped two more inside and added a red bow so that it could be seen through the hole when the card is folded up. I think it brings it all together.

German Clarity Allium Samples

Well I guess it's all feeling a bit more real now.  My first Clarity samples were on the German shopping channel, HSE 24, this morning.

I enjoyed watching Barbara do her thing in German and managed to understand the odd word of what she was saying.  My German is really limited to shopping and reading a menu - despite living there for nearly 6 years!

I'm not sure if it really shows in the photo, but this one was embossed in gold onto Centura Pearl card.  It's a lovely card to use embossing powder on.  It's the first time I've done the text in a circle like that but I really like the effect.  The good thing about Clarity stamps is that you can bend them to the shape you want.

The second one is a bit brighter!  I embossed some card using the Butterfly Garden Impressabilities by Spellbinders, then added colour with Distress Inks.

So, European debut over, only the UK left to go and that's the scary one...
